Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and food safety

Help us close the gap in a practical way by making a charitable donation here  Traditional methods of hunting and gathering had very good food safety. However, today rates of Salmonella infection are much higher among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, especially in remote areas. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are also more likely to have underlying health conditions like diabetes or kidney disease which can make a bout of food poisoning very dangerous.
