The Food Safety Information Council primarily provides information to consumers on the safe storage, preparation and serving of food in the ‘domestic’ environment.

We are a not for profit organisation with limited resources so would prefer you contact us using the web form below.

Before contacting us have you looked at our website because the answers you are looking for may already be there – try using Search or looking in Food Safety Tips or FAQs.

  • for suspected food poisoning in the home, please contact your local doctor, and refer to What to do if you get food poisoning?
  • for suspected food poisoning from a commercial facility please contact the Environmental Health Officer at your local council (see your local phone book), or your State or Territory Health Department
  •  for labelling, additives, ‘use by’ or ‘best before’ date stamping, country of origin, etc, please see Food Standards Australia New Zealand’s website or email them at info@foodstandards.gov.au 
  • for food safety complaints about a commercial facility please contact the Environmental Health Officer at your local council (see your local phone book), or your State or Territory Health Department
  • for food allergies please see Anaphylaxis Australia’s website
  • if you are a food business we cannot help with your enquiry please contact the Environmental Health Officer at your local council (see your local phone book), or your State or Territory Health Department. We have partnered with our member First for Training to provide food safety training or you can also contact a food safety consultant for a fee via the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology’s website.
